Björk – Utopia [Album Review]

Björk is an Icelandic singer/songwriter (among other job titles) who has been making her own unique brand of music for years. I first remember discovering her back in the early nineties with the song and music video for Human Behaviour.” I thought, at the time, that it was groundbreaking and surreal. The song itself was amazing (which still holds up today, by the way), and the video with a young, pixie-like Björk and tripped-out imagery of stuffed animals attacking people was crazy, creative, and inspiring. What if November and December Didn’t Exist?

What if the months of November and December didn’t exist?  I was thinking about this the other day. Cavalera Conspiracy – Psychosis [Album Review]

Psychosis‘ is the fourth studio album by Cavalera Conspiracy.  The hype leading up to its release suggested that this record was going to be very reminiscent of old school Sepultura albums like ‘Arise‘ and ‘Schizophrenia.’  As a longtime fan of Sepultura since I first discovered them back in the late eighties, and subsequent fan of Max Cavalera projects – Nailbomb, Soulfly, and now Cavalera Conspiracy – I was very much looking forward to hearing an album that was going to bring back those early Sepultura death/thrash sounds. What Happened to Customer Service?

Since when did incompetence become acceptable in customer service?  These days it seems like everywhere you go, you run into some idiot behind a counter – or even worse, over the phone – who is terrible at their job.  I probably sound like a grumpy old man now, but I remember back in the day when people actually took pride in being good at their job. Cannibal Corpse – Red Before Black [Album Review]

Cannibal Corpse is a death metal band.  They are probably considered to be the band by which all death metal should be graded.  They play brutal shit.  They are heavy as fuck.  They continually put out brutal death metal album after brutal death metal album and each time they improve on their style just a little bit.  I say “just a little bit” because they are not stepping outside of their boundaries or reinventing their sound.  Cannibal Corpse does brutal fucking death metal, that’s all they do, and they do it like masters.
